Signal uses a variety of techniques to determine if youve got connectivity.

- You will be asked to allow access to your location. We do not share this information, we use changes in your location to trigger checks of your internet connectivity and to record where you lost or gained a connection. When you disable the tracking (using the big on/off button) the use of your location will stop.

- Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Be sure to disable tracking when you no longer need to know if you have internet connectivity.

- We ask for you permission to send notifications. These are only sent by the app and are used to notify you when you have connectivity. Without these youll have to check the app periodically to see if you have internet connectivity.
